Noel Fehily is not allowed to ride Master Minded next Saturday at the Tingle Creek Chase at Cheltenham, and as a result jockey Tony McCoy will be replacing him. Dr Michael Turner, who works as chief medical adviser for the British Horseracing Authority, made the call based on a wrist injury the jockey suffered last month.
McCoy won the race with Master Mind in 2008 and even though Noel Fehily was ready to lead him to victory this time, he will have to wait until next year. “The doctor has stood me down, but I can't understand why because he hasn't even seen me yet this morning,” Fehily said. “I've been schooling this morning so it seems a bit harsh to me, but that's the way it is.”
The two-time winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase, Master Minded is one of the 10 contestants that have already been confirmed for the competition. Trainer Freddy Murphy has said that Kalahari King will also run at the Tingle Creek Chase at Cheltenham, while Gauvin will run under Nick Williams and I’m So Lucky, trained by David Pipe, will also take part in the race.
Kinkeel, Mahogany Blaze, Oiseau De Nuit, Petit Robin and Somersby are also confirmed to attend the Cheltenham meeting. Twist Magic, the eight-year-old Master Minded’s stable companion and winner of the competition in 2007 and 2009 has not been confirmed in the field yet.
