Zenyatta preparing for motherhood

Zenyatta

Zenyatta, horse racing young star that has graced the front pages of newspapers and magazines around the world with her elegance and presence, is being prepared for motherhood. Zenyatta has been named 2010 Horse of the Year and now awaits her initial date with her stallion.

During years she has been the First Lady of Racing on the track and now is home at Kentucky. Zenyatta said goodbye to California to go back home and start a second career. Team Zenyatta is using a communal-type process to figure out the stallion to whom the 2010 Horse of the Year will be bred.

After a hard work, Zenyatta’s owners Jerry and Ann Moss, trainer John Shirrefs, racing manager Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, and bloodstock agent David Ingordo, took the decision that Bernardini would be the right one to date Zenyatta. Dottie’s husband, John, has trained top-shelf horses for years and knows the strengths and weakness of the progeny of many top-name stallions.

For many reasons Bernardini is the chosen one. He has physical characteristics that match up well with Zenyatta and the A.P. Indy bloodline works with the mare as well. “Bernardini fits her. He is well balanced and the Bernardinis have been running well. He has got two of the top 20 on the Triple Crown trail”, said David Ingordo.
